The 66th NASA Meet 2025 concluded with an electrifying display of athleticism and sportsmanship, as NASA-A emerged as the overall champion, securing an impressive tally of 34 medals, including 18 gold, 11 silver, and 5 bronze.
The three day event was held at IG Stadium and Meriema village ground from January 28-30. The sporting extravaganza, which brought together top athletes from across various teams, saw NAYSA-C finishing in second place with a total of 15 medals (4 gold, 2 silver, and 9 bronze), followed by NASA-B with 21 medals (3 gold, 11 silver, and 7 bronze). NAYSA-D secured fourth place with 6 medals (2 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze).
Team and Individual Achievements
In the Women’s Sepak Takraw category, NAYSA-D claimed the championship title, while NASA-B finished as runners-up. In the men’s category, NASA-A emerged victorious, with NASA-B securing the second spot.
The Women’s Volleyball championship was claimed by NAYSA-D, edging out NASA-A, who settled for the runners-up position. Meanwhile, in Women’s Football, NAYSA-C clinched the title, while NAYSA-D finished as runners-up.
In the Men’s Football category, NAYSA-C emerged as champions, with NASA-B taking second place.
Recognizing individual brilliance, the following athletes were awarded the Best Player titles in their respective categories:

Men’s Sepak Takraw: Ruokuozelie Suohu (NASA-A)
Women’s Volleyball: Neikesonuo Belho (NASA-A)

Women’s Football: Vizotuonuo Üsou (NAYSA-C)
Men’s Football: Kevineizo Tsira (NASA-B)
During the closing ceremony, guest of honour, OSD (Sports) and former international footballer Roko Angami, in his speech, emphasized the need for hard work and commitment among the youth, stating that insincerity has no place in today’s competitive environment. Angami remarked that while opportunities were once readily available to those with capability, times have changed, and individuals must now prove their worth through dedication and perseverance.
Highlighting the government’s initiatives in sports, he pointed out that Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has introduced various programs to benefit young athletes, including the Nagaland Super League (NSL).
He stated that the government has invested significant resources into the NSL and stressed that it is now the collective responsibility of all stakeholders to take the game forward and contribute to societal healing through sports.
Angami underscored that sports is a merit-based field, devoid of political influence or backdoor appointments. He urged aspiring athletes to outwork their peers, emphasizing the importance of daily practice rather than seasonal preparation. Addressing the importance of discipline beyond the field, he advised young sportspersons to pay attention to their conduct and dietary habits. He cautioned against indulgence in intoxicants and gluttony, urging athletes to maintain fitness and intelligence to remain competitive.
Furthermore, he called upon the youth to respect their parents, elders, and leaders, stressing that discipline and obedience are essential for success. He acknowledged the efforts of leaders who seek funds for the welfare of athletes and urged young sportspersons to reciprocate with gratitude and respect.
Earlier, the ceremony was chaired by property secy, NASA Neisazo Sorhie, while invocation was pronounced by Zhadima Bawe AG Church, pastor Thepfusalhou Khoubve. Greetings was conveyed by NAYO president Khrievolie Zhale, while Thejasenuo Kire presented a special number. The ceremony was compered by Medolenuo Ambrocia Loucü and Thepfukhrietuo Rüpreo.
During the closing bash, special performances were made by renowned singers, Mengu Suokhrie, Asenuo Metha and Mhasizolie Metsieo. The NASA team for the upcoming Angami Sports Meet was declared by Zakietuolie Khrodi, games & sports secy, NASA.
The annual NASA Meet continues to be a premier platform for nurturing and showcasing sporting talent, fostering unity, and celebrating excellence in athletics. With intense competition and inspiring performances, the 66th edition of the event once again reinforced the significance of sports in building camaraderie and resilience among athletes.
