Secheku Range beat holder Chozuba Area; enter football final at PDSA Meet

Secheku Range Sports Association (SRSA) came from two goals down to defeat defending champion Chozuba Area Sports Association 4-2, earning a spot in the men’s football final of the ongoing 38th Phek District Sports Association meet at Phek Town on Friday.


Secheku will face Tizu Area Sports Association (TASA) in the final on Saturday to decide the new district champions. The winner will receive INR 300,000 along with the Late Soyie Doulo Memorial Trophy.


CASA opened the scoring with a goal from Thujosa in the 6th minute, followed by Vehuto Ringa’s goal in the 40th minute. However, Kozo Kapfo turned the game around with goals in the 47th, 57th, and 71st minutes. Erilo sealed the win for Secheku with a late goal in the 80th minute.


In the other semifinal, Tizu Area Sports Association defeated Centre Chakhesang Sports Association 2-1. Despite trailing by a goal, Tizu equalized and scored the winning goal in the second half to secure their final berth.


In the women’s football event, Secheku Range will face Centre Chakhesang in the final after winning their respective semifinal matches on Friday. On day four, Chokri Area Games and Sports Association secured four final spots out of six events. They advanced to the finals of basketball and volleyball despite a disappointing football match.


Chokri Area defeated Chozuba Area 42-40 points in the first semifinal of the men’s basketball, while Western Chakhesang overcame Centre Chakhesang by 38-33 points to confirm their place in the final.


In women’s basketball, Chokri Area will take on Phek Area in the final after defeating Secheku 27-2 points. Phek Area beat Sekruzu 22-12 points. In volleyball, Chozuba Area defeated Phek Area in straight sets (25-16, 25-19), while Chokri Area overcame Sekruzu (26-24, 25-21). Chozuba Area will face Chokri Area in the final match.


In the women’s volleyball category, Chokri Area will play Western Chakhesang after defeating Tizu, while Western Chakhesang won against Chozuba. On the last day of the event, Leader of NPF Legislature Party, Kuzholuzo Nienu, MLA will be the guest of honour for the closing ceremony.
