The 12th match of the Nagaland Super League (NSL) saw Nagaland United Football Club (NUFC) deliver a commanding 4 nil victory against 27 United Football Club (UFC) at Chümoukedima Football Stadium on Saturday. The match drew a crowd of over 1,000 spectators.
NUFC started aggressively in the opening 10 minutes, creating multiple goal opportunities but failing to convert. A well-executed attack saw NUFC miss a brilliant header opportunity, followed by another chance moments later after a defensive mishap by 27 UFC. NUFC found the back of the net from a corner kick, but the goal was disallowed due to a foul inside the penalty box.
In the 24th minute, they struck again, only for the linesman to rule it offside. The breakthrough finally came in the 28th minute when N. Peseyie (Jersey No. 19) scored a stunning goal, giving NUFC the lead.
27 UFC started the second half in a strong mood, creating several chances early on. N. Phom had a promising opportunity inside NUFC’s penalty box, but his shot hit the side netting.
Meanwhile, NUFC in the 58th minute came close to doubling their lead, only for the UFC goalkeeper to make two crucial saves. Their attacking play however paid off in the 64th minute when Peseyie struck again, making it 2-0.
Peseyie completed his hat-trick in the 70th minute from a penalty kick, further solidifying NUFC’s dominance. Later, K. Wetsah (Jersey No. 23) sealed the victory with an easy tap-in, bringing the final score to 4-0. N. Peseyie (NUFC) was named Man of the Match.
Barak Football Club triumphs over Frontier Warriors FC 3-2
DIMAPUR, FEB 8 (NPN): In a high-octane 11th match of the ongoing Nagaland Super League (NSL), Barak Football Club edged past Frontier Warriors Football Club (FWFC) in a closely contested game, securing a 3-2 victory.
The match began with early excitement as Barak FC capitalized on an opportunity in the fourth minute. Following a fault near the penalty box, a free kick was awarded to Barak, which was taken by Kevisanyü. The initial attempt was deflected, but Toka seized the rebound and slotted in the opening goal, giving Barak an early lead.
With the momentum in their favor, Barak pressed forward aggressively. The team came close to doubling their lead when a well-placed corner kick nearly resulted in a header, only for the ball to sail just over the crossbar.
Meanwhile, FWFC found themselves struggling to keep possession, further challenged by a yellow card issued to V Sunar for unsporting behavior. Despite their defensive setbacks, FWFC found an opening through a counterattack. In a crucial moment, FWFC’s forward Dangmei managed to break free from the right flank and struck a powerful shot past Barak’s defenders, leveling the score.

The second half resumed with Barak immediately pressing into FWFC’s defensive zone, resulting in a corner kick that failed to yield results. A counter-offensive by Barak saw Kenumdi and Toka attempting to extend the lead, but a missed opportunity kept FWFC in the game.
In a crucial moment near Barak’s goal, captain V Sunar delivered a decisive strike, leveling the score once again at 2-2. Red Scars FC vs Longterok FC – 1:1 Draw
CHUMOUKEDIMA, FEB 8 (NPN): The tenth match of the NSL season ended in a nail-biting 1-1 draw as Red Scars FC (RSFC) and Longterok FC (LFC) fought to a tense stalemate at Chümoukedima Football Stadium on Saturday.
RSFC took control early, with captain Chongompipa Reamsochung Aimol breaking the deadlock in added time during the first half. The goal sent the Red Scars into the break with a 1-0 advantage.
The second half saw both teams come out fired up, and the atmosphere inside the stadium was electric, with passionate supporters from both sides creating an intense buzz. As the match drew to a close, LFC made their move, and in the 74th minute, Manton K Wangshu delivered the equalizer, securing the draw in dramatic fashion.
Tensions flared throughout the match, with RSFC’s Thanggousang Hangsing and Eshong Konyak, as well as LFC’s Moalong Jamir, all picking up yellow cards. Despite the tough competition, RSFC’s Molutsupong was named Man of the Match for his standout performance.
In the post-match press conference, both teams’ coaches, M Shashwath (RSFC) and Changsang Ongbou (LFC), remained optimistic about the results.
