The deputy commissioner (DC), Chümoukedima, Polan John, has cautioned against carrying out unauthorized activities on NH-29 such as quarrying, earth cutting, construction, setting up of temporary fruits & vegetable stalls and other land-related operations.
DC stated that such activities posed a significant risk to the structural integrity of the highway and endanger public safety by increasing the likelihood of soil erosion, landslides, highway blockade, encroachments, subsidence and fatal highway accidents.
In view of the above, DC has advised all individuals, village councils, and stakeholders to refrain from undertaking any of the unauthored activities in close proximity to NH-29 including lands within the RoW, which could adversely impact the stability and safety of the highway and its users.
DC also urged all responsible to extend full cooperation in maintaining the durability of NH-29 and safety of all concerned.
