Tenyimia Women Union of Nagaland (TWUN) has condemned the “brutal” and “heinous murder” of a woman by her husband Kughato Yeptho on February 9, 2025.
In a condemnation note, TWUN president, Zhonelu Tunyi and Atono Nyuthe general secretary said such act of violence was not a horrific personal tragedy, but a grave violation of human rights and dignity. TWUN said as an organization dedicated to the welfare and protection of women, it stand united in condemning such an “abhorrent crime”.
The women organization also called upon the law enforcement agencies and concerned authorities to take stringent action and hold the perpetrator fully accountable for his actions in accordance with the law.
TWUN also demanded that the case be prioritized and handled with utmost seriousness, ensuring that justice was not delayed. Extending condolences to the bereaved family members, the TWUN pledged to continue to advocate for the rights and well-being of women and girls, and to work towards a future where no woman suffers from such cruelty.
