
Dimapur District Skill Committee on Wednesday held the review meeting, where skill development programmes in the Dimapur district were discussed. The meeting was chaired by ADC, Dimapur, Zakabo V Rotokha.
In the review meeting, District Employment Officer, Dimapur, Gideon Sumi informed that the Department of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship has launched multiple skill development programs for 2024-25, where the State-Funded PACES Program for training in electrician (160 candidates) and baking (160 candidates), and another initiative for 25 candidates yet to be finalized under the Centrally Funded SANKALP Project.
These initiatives aim to enhance employability and self-sufficiency for the youths of the district. Eligible candidates have been encouraged to enroll. He also said that the review highlighted achievements such as increased enrollment in technical courses, successful placements in various sectors, and collaborations with local businesses.
Challenges, including infrastructure gaps and funding constraints, were also addressed, with plans for further improvement. The DEO also emphasized the growing demand for skill development among employees in various sectors.
The district is positioning itself as a hub for skill development, with ongoing efforts to expand vocational training programs. Authorities are working on introducing new policies to support employees in upgrading their skills, thereby boosting employment opportunities and economic growth.
