Border tensions between Wokha district in Nagaland and Assam escalated at Old Ralan on Friday morning when Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel allegedly halted an Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) consignment meant for installing solar lights at a local gas station.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 9 AM when CRPF personnel entered Old Ralan, Wokha, and stopped the consignment, sparking tensions in the area. Members of the local Women’s Organization intervened, protesting against what they termed as harassment by border forces and an unnecessary disruption of a peaceful installation process.

As the situation intensified, various unions from Old Ralan arrived to help defuse tensions. After discussions, the issue was resolved without further conflict.

Speaking on the matter, Old Ralan Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) and Border Magistrate Tsentsungo Ngullie confirmed that a meeting would be convened on Monday at the CRPF Rengma Pani outpost to address the situation. Both border magistrates from Assam and Nagaland are expected to participate in the discussion to find a resolution to the dispute.
