Holi, the festival of colors symbolizes love, unity, and harmony, reminding us to celebrate together by embracing one another beyond all differences.
On this auspicious occasion, I appeal to everyone to uphold an atmosphere of peace and brotherhood. Let us ensure that communal harmony prevails and that no space is given to division based on religion, caste, or any form of discrimination. Holi should spread only love, happiness, and togetherness.
In today’s times, some leaders misuse their platforms to spread hate and divide people on religious lines.
For instance, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has repeatedly made divisive and inflammatory statements that go against the spirit of unity that our festivals represent. Such rhetoric not only harms the social fabric of our country but also goes against the values of coexistence that Nagaland has upheld for generations.
In contrast, Rahul Gandhi’s vision of “Mohabbat Ki Dukan” (a shop of love in the marketplace of hate) reminds us that India thrives when we choose love over hate, inclusion over exclusion, and unity over division. Holi is the perfect occasion to reinforce this message—where every color represents diversity, and together they create beauty. Let us build bridges of understanding rather than walls of separation.
I urge everyone to:
- Celebrate Holi with people of all communities and share joy with one another.
- Stay away from rumors and misleading information on social media.
- Not fall for provocation or divisive narratives.
- Cooperate in maintaining peace and harmony in your surroundings.
- Avoid intoxication and celebrate Holi in a clean, safe, and joyful manner.
This year, as Holi coincides with the sacred month of Ramzan, let us be mindful and respectful of our Muslim brothers and sisters observing their fasts. Just as Holi signifies joy, Ramzan signifies devotion and self-discipline. By fostering mutual respect and understanding, we can ensure that both celebrations become a testament to our unity and brotherhood.
Let this Holi not only be about colors but also about love, harmony, and shared happiness. Wishing you all a peaceful, prosperous, and joyous Holi & the festival of Ramzan!
