The two-week online national workshop on “Research Methodology for College and University Teachers”, sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR-NERC) and organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Research & Development Cell (RDC) of Dimapur Government College (DGC), commenced on March 17.
In a press release, Dimapur Government College, publicity and media cell informed that the workshop, which runs from March 17 to 28, aims to enhance the research skills and methodologies of college and university teachers across the country.
The inaugural session was graced by director of ICSSR-NERC, Shillong, Prof. Bhagirathi Panda, as the chief guest. In his keynote speech, Prof. Bhagirathi Panda highlighted the critical role of research methodology in social science research and encouraged participants to utilize the workshop as a platform to refine their research skills. He also stressed the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in addressing contemporary social issues.
The workshop has attracted 380 registered participants from 20 states across India, reflecting its nationwide appeal and relevance. Over the course of 19 technical sessions, 17 distinguished resource persons from reputed institutions will cover a wide range of topics, including research design, data analysis, statistical tools, and academic writing.
The sessions are designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical insights, ensuring that participants gain comprehensive skills in research methodology.
The event began with opening remarks by coordinator of IQAC, DGC, Dr. Vinyuhu Lhoungu, who emphasized the importance of research in higher education and the need for continuous professional development among educators.
This was followed by a warm welcome address by the Workshop Director, Dr. Hare Krushna Parhi, who outlined the objectives of the workshop and its significance in fostering a culture of research excellence. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Workshop Co-Director, Dr. Yelhi Vero, who expressed gratitude to the ICSSR-NERC, resource persons, and participants for their active involvement.
