Expressing concern over the recent development at GPRN/NSCN’s Khehoi designated camp, the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) and Dimapur-based Konyak civil society organisations (CSOs) have separately appealed to both the parties to maintain peace.

In a press release, NCD president Etsungmomo Kikon and general secretary LK Peter Anal said the council was “much concerned” about the recent development, but the two groups “absolutely have thoughtfully restrained themselves from resorting to offensive violence on each other”. NCD thanked the groups for upholding the voice of Naga people “no more bloodshed among Naga brothers”.

NCD reminded that the “time has not yet healed the deep scars of horrible blood-bath infightings among own Naga brothers which ended only in recent years.” Since then, NCD said Nagas have been experiencing peace and tranquillity in every nook and corner of Naga inhabited areas.

Stating that God has answered the prayers of the Naga, the NCD said “we gave peace a chance for progress and development of our land and people.”

Further, NCD said that it was the sheer desire and prayer of Nagas that “such ugly violence does not occur again”. The council stated that it was high time all must work and pray for the unity to resolve early Naga political solution, which, it expressed belief has gained its momentum.

NCD said Naga political issue was “inching fast for its inclusive, honourable and acceptable conclusion” as there appeared mutual understanding among Naga political leaders in the meetings of reconciliation often organized by Forum for Naga Reconciliation and other various like-minded Naga CSOs.

However, NCD said the recent development at Khehoi camp has “once again created fear psychosis and dismay in the minds of people” which particularly affected peaceful living of Nagas in neighbouring districts of Niuland, Chümoukedima and Dimapur.

NCD has, therefore, appealed to the leaders of concerned groups “to develop hearts of forgiving each other” and come to an amicable understanding so peaceful environment continued prevailing in the land as before.

Dimapur-based Konyak CSOs: Dimapur-based Konyak civil society organisations (CSOs)—Konyak Union Dimapur (KUD), Konyak Nyupuh Sekho Khong Dimapur (KNSKD) and Konyak Students’ Union Dimapur (KSUD)— have appealed to both the parties to uphold peace “as peace is the path for bringing growth and prosperity to society.”

In a joint statement, M Jeange Yanlem, KNSKD president Henpong and KSUD president Nokwang stated that the recent situation at Khehoi camp had caused mental distress among the Nagas. They strongly cautioned NPGs against indulging in any form of violence or bloodshed.

Acknowledging the progress the Nagas have made in overcoming a history of violence, Dimapur-based Konyak CSOs urged upon all parties to resolve their conflict/misunderstanding through peaceful dialogue.

Dimapur-based Konyak CSOs said they convened an emergency meeting on March 23, 2025 to address serious concern regarding the escalating situation at Khehoi camp.
At the meeting, CSOs said they passed a resolution that any parties engaging in conflict or violence would result in non-cooperation from Dimapur-based Konyak CSOs.

The CSOs have reiterated commitment to peace and harmony throughout Naga-inhabited areas and urged the “expeditious implementation of the new relationship between the two entities.”
