The GPRN/NSCN (Unification) has clarified that it had not revoked the Tatar Hoho’s decision of April 21, 2024, and that N Kitovi Zhimomi remained impeached and divested of his position as ato kilonser/general secretary of the organisation, and consequently expelled.
In a statement, the group also advised the general public and Naga society not to be misled by the statement disseminated on March 24, 2025 by some unauthorised anonymous individuals claiming as the Naga Army of the GPRN/NSCN (U).
Stating that Samson Aye continued to hold the position of commander-in-chief of Naga Army, GPRN/NSCN (U), the organisation further clarified that it had not granted authorisation to any individual to issue statements on its behalf.
The GPRN/NSCN (U) claimed a small group of middle-ranking Naga Army cadres with vested interest and sophisticated weaponry in collusion with Kitovi’s boys, and excuse of rejoining the organisation, forcibly entered Khehoyi camp. They effectively placed GPRN/NSCN (U)’s president MB Neokpao Konyak under duress.
To preclude any potential bloodshed or violence, the group mentioned that the army unit assigned to the president’s security detail had been instructed to exercise maximum restraint and refrain from provocative actions. It also termed the manner in which Konyak was being confined within Khehoyi camp and subjected to pressure disregarding his age and status by Zhimomi and his associates as deplorable.
According to the group, their objective of coercing a reversal of the April 21, 2024 impeachment of Zhimomi and reinstating the conditions of October 31, 2022, was inconsistent with the established practices of any Naga tribe.
It hoped that the Sumi community would recognise the underlying intentions and decline to participate in the illicit activities of Zhimomi and his followers.
Furthermore, the GPRN/NSCN (U) maintained that it was inappropriate for any army cadre to address matters pertaining to Naga peace talks and political solution through such means, as these matters were not subject to military authority or coercion.
Pointing out that the Agreed Position of November 17, 2017 between the central government and Working Committee (WC) of the NNPGs was translated into a political agreement on October 31, 2019, the organisation said these matters were now under the purview of the centre.
As the political agreement reached between the centre and the WC, NNPGs pertained to entire Naga community, the organisation stressed that any signing of accord or agreement with the central government must be a collective decision involving Naga political groups, tribal bodies, the GB Federation, civil society members and elected governments of the respective states.
GPRN/NSCN (U) reiterated that Zhimomi was impeached and expelled from the organisation due to corrupt practices, misuse of arms and ammunition, criminal acts of extortion, and antagonism towards political parties, other tribes, and the business community. It asserted that he could not be reinstated without providing a comprehensive and satisfactory explanation for these actions.
The organisation appreciated the initiative taken by various civil society organisations, NGOs, tribal bodies, etc, for their tireless effort to foster peace and harmony, assuring that it was steadfastly committed for reconciliation and unity of Naga political groups.
Warns against unauthorized collection: Following the recent developments at Naga Unification Camp, Khehoyi, on March 22, the GPRN/NSCN (Unification) has issued a public advisory urging individuals, organizations, business establishments, and well-wishers not to entertain any unauthorized collectors claiming to represent the group.
In a press release issued by its MIP, GPRN/NSCN (Unification) cautioned that any individual or entity engaging with such collectors without prior confirmation from the convener finance committee and supervisor would be doing so at their own risk.

The advisory comes in the wake of internal power struggles within the faction, with the group ensuring that financial transactions remain authorized and transparent.
