Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) has informed all consumers of Wokha town that water supply was facing severe source depletion at the main source (Etsuchukha spring source) due to which the regular supply of water has been disrupted.
According to a DIPR report, PHED Wokha executive engineer Imnazulu Ao informed that the situation was expected to continue/worsen until the onset of monsoon.
The department stated that pumping of water from Engorotchu source was also currently not possible due to transformer failure, collapse of electric post and damage caused to electrical pumping system due to natural calamity. PHED said it would take time for repair and restoration.
PHED Wokha division said it was working with the power department to address the issue and restore the water supply as quickly as possible. The department expressed regret for the inconveniences caused and requested the consumers to cooperate and understand the situation faced by the department presently.
