Chümoukedima registered a resounding 9-wicket win over Tseminyu in the ongoing 5th Late G. Rio Memorial Men’s U19 Inter-District Cricket Tournament 2025, held at the Sovima Cricket Ground, Chümoukedima.
The match was dominated by a stunning all-round performance from Aloto Sumi, who starred with both bat and ball.
After winning the toss, Tseminyu elected to bat first but faced an uphill battle against a disciplined Chümoukedima bowling unit. They were bowled out for just 67 runs in 25.3 overs, with Shivam standing out as the lone contributor with a fighting 31 off 48 balls.
Chümoukedima’s bowling was spearheaded by Aloto Sumi, who produced a devastating spell of 6 wickets for 19 runs in his full quota of 10 overs, breaking the back of Tseminyu’s batting order and setting the tone for the match.
In pursuit of a modest target of 68, Chümoukedima made light work of the chase, reaching the total in just 13.3 overs. Once again, Aloto Sumi took center stage, this time with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 64 runs off 57 balls, finishing the match in style and showcasing his all-round brilliance.
Tseminyu’s bowling unit managed to pick up only one wicket, with Sokelo Semp taking 1/21 in 3 overs. For his extraordinary all-round performance—6/19 with the ball and an unbeaten 64 with the bat—Aloto Sumi was named the Player of the Match. His efforts were instrumental in Chümoukedima’s dominant win.
Kohima registers 41 runs win over Peren
Kohima put in a strong all-round performance to defeat Peren by 41 runs in their Group Stage fixture at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Chümoukedima.
Peren won the toss and chose to field first. Kohima made the most of their opportunity with the bat, posting a competitive 171 runs in 37 overs. The innings was held together by Jenithung Ezung, who played a crucial knock of 35 runs from 39 balls, anchoring the middle order during a crucial phase.
Peren’s bowlers fought back well, with Namdunchap Nbung delivering a standout performance, finishing with 4 wickets for 35 runs in 9 overs, restricting Kohima from reaching a bigger total.
In response, Peren’s chase got off to a shaky start, and although Vineet Singh Chauhan (38 off 53) and Anurag Gupta (30 off 24) tried to steady the innings, the Kohima bowling attack proved too effective.
Jenithung Ezung returned to make an impact with the ball as well, picking up 2/30 in 7 overs, while Sangtsulen Tshunherii cleaned up the tail with figures of 3/8 in just 3.1 overs, sealing the win for Kohima.
For his valuable 35-run contribution with the bat and 2 wickets with the ball, Jenithung Ezung was awarded the Player of the Match, playing a vital role in Kohima’s victory with an excellent all-round display.
Kohima’s well-rounded team performance earned them an important win in the tournament as they continue their campaign.
