Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has acknowledged the commendable performance and efficiency of present team of officers and personnel in Dimapur Police Commissionerate under the Commissioner of Police (CP) Kevithuto Sophie in maintaining law and order.

In compliance to the resolution adopted during NCD’s annual general body meeting held on April 8 appreciating Dimapur Police for its commendable service in maintaining law and order situation in Dimapur, NCD president Etsungmomo Kikon and general secretary LK Peter Anal recalled that the state’s commercial hub in the past witnessed extortion, drug trafficking and all kinds of anti-social activities for which the general public faced lot of problems.

However, they noted that the law and order situation had improved significantly in recent times due to effective and timely management of law and order by the law enforcing agencies and machineries.

They said it was undeniable that there was a drastic change in law and order situation today, with peace being experienced day in and day out.

Stating that Dimapur had witnessed never-ending illegal activities in the past, NCD noted that unabated extortion and multiple taxations, skillful robberies, pick pocketing of innocent and ignorant villagers in the market, and other evil practices of fraudulence had considerably subsided to great extent.

They said the practice of demanding huge ransom by kidnapping businessmen or their family members had come down in recent years, which confirmed that the situation was now under strict control of the police.

Always vulnerable to drug menace, they acknowledged that even supply, sale, buying and use of drugs had been brought down in Dimapur. Pointing out that it was not easy to move around on the town’s narrow roads due to movement of thousands of vehicles, they said systematic regulation of traffic had made movement convenient and smooth, which proved the efficiency of police.

Hence, along with federating units Dimapur Urban Council Chairman Federation, Naga Women Hoho Dimapur, GB Union [Sadar] Dimapur and Dimapur Naga Students’ Union, NCD expressed heartfelt gratitude to police officers and personnel for their dedicated and commendable performance in maintaining law and order, and ensuring and prioritising the safety of people in Dimapur.

Mentioning that the commitment and hard work of the well-coordinated and well-organised team was invaluable, they said the current team of officers and personnel had gained people’s confidence, and trust that Dimapur would continue to witness peace with their dedicated and efficient service.

Though Dimapur had witnessed a number of inhuman incidents perpetrated by criminal gangs/individuals, NCD said timely action had led to the arrest of the criminals in record time. They hoped the exemplary service to the people in Dimapur and places around would continue in the days and years to come.
