Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio, officially inaugurated a newly constructed playground at Pherima ‘B’ village on Saturday. The project was undertaken under the State Plan 2023–24 of the Minority Affairs Department, Government of Nagaland.
The inaugural program was attended by village leaders, elders, and party workers from the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) 5 Ghaspani-II Assembly Constituency (AC).
Addressing the gathering, Zhaleo highlighted the pressing need for a proper playground at Pherima ‘B’ village, describing the project as a “construction out of compulsion” owing to the villagers’ needs. He noted that despite efforts, the playground’s expansion was limited by the village’s challenging hilly terrain.
Emphasizing the importance of collective effort in driving local development, the advisor urged villagers and leaders alike to contribute actively towards such initiatives. He further informed that eight new playgrounds have been completed under his leadership in the 5 Ghaspani-II AC.
Highlighting the strategic location of Pherima village along National Highway-29, Zhaleo reminded residents of the opportunities this presents in terms of hospitality and tourism. He encouraged villagers to enhance local handicrafts, strengthen farming practices, and leverage the region’s fertile soil for commercial vegetable cultivation to boost economic growth.
The inauguration programme was chaired by Botoka Zhimomi, with an invocation prayer led by Lhoni Lashika Kiba. Greetings were delivered by the Head GB of Pherima ‘B’, Dr. K. Izheho Zhimomi, followed by a cultural performance presented by STL Pherima ‘B’ village. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by legal assistant, Directorate of School Education, Kohima Kihoshi Zhimomi.
