The animated film ‘Scarlet,’ co-produced by acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Mamoru Hosoda, is set to debut in Indian theatres on December 12, 2025.
The film follows the story of a brave princess who travels through time and space, embarking on an epic and imaginative adventure. This marks Hosoda’s return to the big screen after his hit ‘Belle,’ which premiered at Cannes and became his highest-grossing film.
Sony Pictures, along with Studio Chizu and Nippon TV, has co-financed ‘Scarlet,’ with Sony handling the global release except for Japan, where Toho will release it, according to ‘Deadline.’
Hosoda, an Oscar-nominated director known for films like “Wolf Children,” “Summer Wars,” “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time,” and “Mirai,” co-founded Studio Chizu in 2011. His works have garnered international acclaim, with ‘The Girl Who Leapt Through Time’ earning the Japan Academy Prize for Best Animation and ‘Summer Wars’ screening at Berlin International Film Festival.
Sony Pictures Entertainment India will bring ‘Scarlet’ to theatres nationwide on December 12.
