The Nagaland Football Association (NFA) has been honoured with the prestigious award for ‘Member Association Launching New Projects’ at the All India Football Federation (AIFF) annual awards for the 2024–25 season.
The award was presented at a ceremony held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, and shared with the Kerala Football Association (KFA).
This recognition highlights the NFA’s bold and impactful strides in football development, with the launch and remarkable success of the Nagaland Super League (NSL) standing out as its defining achievement.
The award is not just a milestone for the NFA, but a celebration of the entire Nagaland football community. From grassroots mentors and league officials to passionate fans and young players chasing their dreams, this recognition belongs to every individual who believes in football’s transformative power in Nagaland.
The Nagaland Super League, the state’s first-ever professional football league, made a historic debut in 2025. Seven teams competed across the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima and the newly inaugurated Chümoukedima Football Stadium. Serving as a high-performance platform for local talent, the NSL is already reshaping the sporting culture of the state.
In its inaugural season, Barak FC emerged as the champions, defeating Longterok FC 3-1 in a thrilling final at the Chümoukedima stadium. The NFA has extended its gratitude to key partners and stakeholders whose support has been instrumental in the NSL’s success.
The Nagaland Olympic Association, in particular, has played a pivotal role in empowering the state’s sporting ecosystem, while the ongoing contributions of players, clubs, coaches, referees, volunteers, sponsors, and media have been integral to the league’s momentum.
