Hope Restoration, operating under Teen Challenge umbrella, hosted seminar at Bethesda AG Church, Dimapur on May 2 and 3, focused on addressing drug and alcohol addiction.
A press release by general superintendent, The Assemblies of God of East India, Rev. Moses Murry, stated that the seminar highlighted unique and vital role Churches could play in addiction prevention, intervention, and recovery support.
Executive Director, South Africa Teen Challenge, Dr. Jacobus Nomdoe presented aspects of substances connecting insights to theological perspectives on brokenness and healing.
The speakers also encouraged participants to establish recovery ministries called “House of Hope” with a purpose to provide guidance and care to the affected people and provide hope to them.
With over 150 attendees representing local churches, Institutions and community organizations, the event fostered collaboration between faith-based groups and addiction specialists to develop holistic approaches to the addiction crisis.
The seminar concluded with a commitment ceremony where participants drafted specific action plans for implementing addiction ministries within their congregations and organizations.
