Shamator Town Public Forum (STPF), along with several local organizations, have submitted a joint representation to the department of Power, demanding for urgent upgrades of the power transmission center at Shamator Headquarters.
In a joint representation, addressed to the Engineer-in-Chief through the Deputy Commissioner of Shamator, STPF president Kumehean, Shamator Town Students’ Union president Tochimong, and 11 Ward Union Shatmator representative Yansomong, highlighted the need for an immediate replacement of the damaged 33 KV transformer, which failed on May 3, 2025, leaving several villages without electricity.
They have requested the provision of a digital marker machine for efficient current supply monitoring and swift restoration during outages.
Some of the demands included upgrading the SDO (Power) office from the Junior Engineer Division, allocation of a pool vehicle for emergency operations, and the construction of a dedicated staff duty room at the 33 KV station, equipped with essential materials. They underscored Shamator’s status as a district headquarters and the primary power transmission point, emphasizing the hardships faced by residents due to the prolonged outage.
