IFM Academy launches

The Institute of Fashion and Modelling (IFM) Academy, a premier institution for creative education in India, officially launched its Kohima campus on Wednesday during a press conference and fashion showcase held at The Heritage DC Bungalow, near Assam Rifles, Kohima.

The event marked a significant step in bringing industry-driven fashion and design education to Nagaland and was attended by notable personalities including renowned actor and entrepreneur Arijit Dutta, IFM Academy CEO Kuntanil Das, fashion designer Tejas Gandhi, and Rahul Akhaury, Chairman of Vernajyoti Educare—IFM’s academic collaborator in the region.

In his address, Kuntanil Das, who is also a senior show director and image consultant, highlighted IFM Academy’s legacy as a trusted name in skill-based creative education with existing campuses in Kolkata and Siliguri. He emphasized the institution’s goal to empower aspiring professionals in Nagaland by offering high-quality education in fashion, interior design, and professional modelling and grooming.

IFM Academy is known for its industry-aligned curriculum, global partnerships, and practical training. It is affiliated with Istituto di Moda Burgo in Milan, a globally renowned fashion institute, and serves as the state collaborator for Miss Universe India – West Bengal, enabling students to explore vast opportunities in the fashion and glamour industry.

Speaking at the event, Arijit Dutta expressed optimism about the collaboration with the Nagaland government. He noted the region’s untapped potential in the fashion and hospitality sectors and said the new campus would help local talent secure better job prospects both within and beyond the state.

The launch event concluded with a fashion show featuring collections by designers Suvagata Das, Tejas Gandhi, and Suman Bhagat. The highlight of the evening was a runway appearance by Miss Universe West Bengal 2024, Sushmita Roy, who walked alongside leading professional models from across the country.

The initiative is spearheaded by Vernajyoti Institute and supported by the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland.
