Good Shepherd High School (GSHS), Kiphire, reaffirmed its status as a tobacco-free zone on May 8, as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and efforts to promote a drug-free society.
The reaffirmation took place during a plantation drive organized by Akehda Amulung under the theme “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life.” Founder Longtili C. Sangtam encouraged students and teachers to stay away from drugs, cautioning that substance abuse can destroy lives and futures.
He urged GSHS to take the lead in spreading awareness and becoming ambassadors for a drug-free Kiphire. The tree plantation drive, he said, symbolizes hope and a greener future for the district.
The program included a pledge against drug and tobacco use, led by Apiba A. Sangtam, and concluded with closing remarks by Akehda Amulung Chairman, T. Ariba. Headmaster T.V. Thomas welcomed attendees, thanking Akehda Amulung for bringing the initiative to the school and reaffirmed GSHS’s commitment to providing a healthy and safe environment for students.
