
Kohima Longsa Senso Telongjem (Kohima Longsa Union) celebrated golden jubilee on May 10, 2025, at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima, under the theme “Towards Wider Horizons.” The event was graced by MLAs -A. Nyamnei Konyak and Benei M. Lamthiu, who are in-laws of Longsa village, as special guests.
The special guests spoke about their connection with Longsa village and encouraged the community to strengthen existing bonds and build new relationships.
The celebration began a special song by Longsa Kaketshir Telongjem dedicated to the occasion. A time capsule sealed during the Union’s 25th anniversary was opened, with senior pastor of Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo, Rev. Sentisashi Aier, leading the invocation. The Union’s president, Lanuakum Jamir, welcomed the attendees.
Lok Sabha MP S. Süpongmeren Jamir attended the event and shared words of encouragement. The presidents of Kohima Ao Telongjem and Kohima Ongpangkong Telongjem, along with the chairman of Longsa Village Council, also addressed the gathering. Takamanen Jamir reflected on the Union’s journey and growth over the years. A special song was performed by Longsa Ao Süngküm Zünga, Kohima, in commemoration of the milestone.
The keynote address was delivered by former Chief Secretary Alemtemshi Jamir, who urged attendees to step beyond their comfort zones and embrace global opportunities. He stressed the importance of keeping up with technological advancements and adapting to modern changes.
Dr. S. Rongsen Longkumer, convener of the Resolution Committee, read out the Jubilee resolution, while Merentoshi R. Jamir, convener of the Jubilee Planning Committee, delivered the vote of thanks.
The event concluded with the sealing of a new time capsule for the Union’s 75th anniversary celebrations, followed by a mass prayer.
