The Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) has appealed for prayer on May 18, following a resolution adopted at a meeting of Naga Political Groups (NPGs) and Naga tribal hohos held at Pruzie, Kohima on May 5 and 6, requesting churches in Naga areas through the respective apex church association/councils to take a moment to pray that day.

In a statement, the FNR also shared the prayer points, which included coming before the lord and acknowledging that He was the eternal God above all gods, and quoted Psalm 95 “Let us humble before him in worship and extol him with thanksgiving and praise.”

The forum also called for recognising the sovereignty of God over the destiny of all people of this world, as it was God who determined the times and exact places of all people where they should live. Hence, as Nagas, although scattered in different regions, it appealed for thanking God that they were a unique people in His sight, created and redeemed for God’s glory.

Reminding that all had sinned and fell short of the glory of God, the forum appealed people to confess their shortcomings, wrongdoings and all evil committed before God and to each other. “Let us ask forgiveness from God and from each other, so that healing and God’s favour will rest upon us,” it exhorted.

The FNR also urged the public to plead with God with one heart and mind to hear their prayer of lament, noting that a true and lasting peace had eluded the land for more than 75 years.

Calling for seeking God’s intervention in the impending Naga political situation, the forum called for pleading that God would act not because they were righteous but for His name’s sake and enduring mercy, adding He would hear their prayers and intervene.
