The Nagaland Pencak Silat team has shone on the national stage by securing a total of 8 medals — 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze medals at the 13th Senior National Pencak Silat Championship held from May 9 to 12 at the K.D. Singh Babu Indoor Sports Stadium, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
In the sparring category, Nagaland athletes displayed exceptional strength and technique, earning Gold medals through – Hinokali, Nyia Thono and Kitenlo K. Thono. Adding to the tally, Silver medals were won by Chethyio Kajesho in Sparring and Hinokali in individual Artistic event.
In the female Artistic Regu event, Bronze Medals were secured by Hatneinem Khongsai, Avikali V. Shequi and Hinokali (marking her third medal in the championship).
A total of 12 athlete participated in the National Pencak Silat Championship led by head coach Deep Kumar and National Referee Kuhoshe Sumi.
It may be mentioned that this remarkable achievement not only highlights the growing stature of Pencak Silat in Nagaland but also reflected the dedication, discipline and spirit of its athletes. The Nagaland Pencak Silat Association extended heartfelt congratulations to the entire team for bringing pride and recognition to the state.
