Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, was officially inducted as the new President of the Kohima District Bharat Scouts & Guides (BS&G) in a ceremonial event held at the DC Office, Kohima, on 15 May.

In his address, Buchem shared his personal journey as a Scout during his school years from Class 8 to 10, describing it as an “emotional and enriching experience.” He commended the Bharat Scouts & Guides for its noble mission of nurturing youth with strong values, civic sense, and essential life skills.

“Kohima district, established in 1870, holds a rich legacy. As the first district, we must lead by example and inspire others,” he said. Emphasizing the importance of early education, he added, “The best teachers can be our students and children—teach them young.”
