Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has appealed to the government of India and NSCN-K (Angmai-Mulatonu) “to enter into a bilateral cease-fire” to find a common ground towards peace and political solution to the “Indo-Naga” problem.

CNTC through its media cell asserted that peace and progress was the crucial need of the hour. CNTC welcomed the “positive progress” made in starting a dialogue between the Government of India and NSCN-K (Ang Mai-Mulatonu). CNTC said it was a welcome step towards building confidence to sort out differences.

“If guns and violence could bring any solution, Northeast and particularly Naga people and the Government of India would have achieved decades ago but violence only begets violence,” the council asserted.

Further, CNTC appreciated the wisdom of the Government of India and NSCN-K (Ang Mai – Mulatonu) in realising the need for seeking a peaceful means in having a dialogue instead of choosing the path of bloodshed and vengeance.

CNTC has, therefore, appealed to both the parties to make the progress a reality soon and begin to take the path of “Ahimsa”, the path that Gandhiji promoted around the world, in letter and in spirit.
