Nagaland deputy chief minister Y Patton, along with Harivansh Narayan Singh, deputy chairman of Rajya Sabha, represented India at the inauguration ceremony of Pope Leo XIV’s pontificate held at the Vatican City on May 18, 2025.
In a post on X, Patton said: “It was an honor to witness the Inauguration Mass of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican, alongside Hon’ble Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Shri @harivansh1956 Ji.”
Describing the event as a profound and moving experience, Patton highlighted its themes of peace, humility, and global unity. “Representing India at such a historic and spiritual gathering was truly a privilege…” he said.
