Tsungiki Joint Forest Management Committee unveils key projects

    Inaugural programme at Tsungiki village under Wokha.

    The Tsungiki Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC), under the Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP), inaugurated a basketball court and a water tank in Tsungiki village, Wokha district on May 20. The basketball court was developed under the Entry Point Activity (EPA), while the water tank was set up as part of the Water Harvesting Structure (WHS) initiative.
    The event was led by Suman WM Sivachar, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) cum DMU head, alongside Er. Sangmou Khiamniungan, EAC Chukitong. Several dignitaries including Nzano Kikon, deputy chairperson of Wokha Town Council, Councilors Lily T. Humtsoe and Santsuthung Murry, Rajiv Shankar, ACF, ADMU, and Elithung Odyuo, ACF Baghty Range, along with officials from various departments attended the program, chaired by E. Chenithung Kikon, treasurer of Tsungiki JFMC.
    In his address, Suman praised JFMC Tsungiki for its innovative efforts and extended gratitude to the community for its contributions. He emphasized the uniqueness of the basketball court under the project and encouraged aspiring local players to strive toward representing their tribe, district, state, and the nation. He also spoke about ongoing NFMP initiatives and urged community members to stay actively involved. Addressing concerns about staff shortages, he assured continued efforts to tackle district-related issues while requesting local support for future projects.
    Er. Sangmou commended JFMC and the NFMP team for their achievements, stressing the importance of using the newly developed assets wisely. He also encouraged young athletes to take advantage of the new facility and aim for national representation.
    JFMC president Jonny expressed gratitude to the NFMP team for their financial support and technical guidance, highlighting the community’s direct benefits from the project. He shared that the basketball court was built with 70% of the community’s contribution and encouraged ongoing cooperation for future initiatives.
    The event acknowledged the presence of officials, church representatives, and council members. It concluded with a vote of thanks by Yanthungo Ngullie, student representative of JFMC Tsungiki.
