‘Naga Hoho and the need of the hour’

The reason I am writing this brief opinion about Naga Hoho is because of the indispensable responsibility and the role to be played by the Naga Hoho on the impending Indo-Naga Political talk for solution which will take place in one form or another depending on how far the Government of India (GoI) is prepared to build a new relationship with the Naga people. As we know that the present peace talks has to deliver political solution that will have to cover the contiguous Naga territory under India’s occupation and the Naga Hoho being the only Naga civil organisation that represent the Nagas irrespective of artificial boundaries need the peoples support and not otherwise.
The journey of Naga Hoho since its inception till today has come a long way despite of the never ending hiccups due to tribalism, groupism and regionalism in the Naga society. But consciously or unconsciously every Nagas have contributed to the quest for Naga nationalism and therefore we all are proud of ourselves to be called noble citizen of Naga-land. Now, in our greed to accommodate personal agenda and vested interest Naga political problem have been widen and underm-ining the whole objectives of the Naga Hoho. We are in a situation where no one like the other leadership which is a severe disease that needs to be corrected and eradicated at the earliest.
The Naga Hoho carries the burden of purposes, spirit and sentiments of all the naga people and it will be an act of self betrayal to compromised or deviate from that cause. The movement of the Naga integration and to live together of all the Nagas under one administration is the noble objective of the Naga Hoho,for which we must be thankful to all the leaders who have served Naga Hoho in different capacities for their resoluteness and time tested political integrity in taking forward the interest of all the Nagas this far despite of the never ending attempts to dislodge and destroy the very foundation of the Hoho.
The challenges ahead as Naga Hoho lead the Naga people to enter the new newhorizon will require unflinching support and all out effort from every Naga political leaders,churches,students,Naga intellectuals and every countrymen of this God gifted Naga-land. Let us not be carried away by our temporary personal emotion but rather dwell together on the common interest and objectives which the Indo-Naga political negotiation has to offer. Let us aside the efficiency in creating reactionary bodies,but try to narture what we have already build the common house in the name of Naga Hoho. The word of God says “To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to kill and a time to heal ;a time to break down,and a time to build up. Time has come for the Naga people to show the world our unity in one body so as to achieve our aspired goal.
