Indian Dental Association (IDA), Nagaland State Branch on Wednesday organized an “Oral health and dental awareness campaign” with Dr. Esther Chophy Ngullie as the speaker at Sunbeam School, DC Hill Zunheboto.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Esther stressed on the basics of dental care, oral health, food habits; dos and don’ts for healthy and hygienic mouth.
Dr. Esther cautioned the children against the usage of tobacco, supari, paan masala, gutka etc. which she said was very harmful not only to the teeth but also warned that it causes oral cancer. She also warned against eating very sweet products and recommended sugar free edibles.
Interaction session with students was also conducted and students with oral problems were also examined; various /dental-care items such as brush, paste, mouth wash and medicines were also distributed to students and teachers.
Earlier, headmistress Sunbeam School Viboli Zhimomi delivered a brief keynote address and introduction; principal and proprietor Hukiye Zhimomi also spoke briefly at the seminar.
Hundreds of students, teachers, faculties and several well wishers attended the seminar. Dr Esther was accompanied by Visheni Sumi staff nurse Zunheboto Civil Hospital. The seminar was conducted in two different sessions viz senior and junior/KG category.
