Deptt of Botany NU Lumami annual day

Twenty seven M. Sc 1st semester and eight Ph. D coursework students were welcomed to the botany department, Nagaland University, Lumami by head of department Prof. C.R. Deb at its annual day-cum-freshers’ day on August 30. 

At the programme, short speeches were delivered by research scholar, Zubenthung P. Kikon, M. Sc 3rd Semester Angunuo, Ph. D coursework, Toshinungla and M. Sc 1st Semester, Gloria.  Assistant professor, Dr. Sanjay Kumar delivered a lecture on “IPR and Patents in Indian Context”.  

He talked about the importance of Intellectual Property Rights, Patent applications and Patenting of microbes in Indian context.

M.Sc 3rd Semester students presented enchanting voices and also entertained the gathering with lighter moments.  

Assistant professor, Dr. M.R. Singh said the vote of thanks followed by refreshment. It may be noted that on August 30, the Botanical Society, Nagaland University was launched with Prof. C.R. Deb, Head of the department as the President.

Botanical Society was introduced by Dr. Neizo Puro, assistant professor, Botany Department. The society also launched its official logo, designed by research scholar, Zubenthung P. Kikon.

One of the main purposes was to publish the BOTANICA, an annual magazine of the society.  BOTANICA will feature popular and semi-technical articles on topics in all fields of plant sciences.
