
Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), rural division Dimapur, would be observing National Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation awareness week from February 20 to 25.
In a press release, the department informed that the launching programme would be held February 20, 9 a.m. at IMC hall, Fellowship Colony with SDO (Civil) Dimapur Dr. Kadambari Bhagat as chief guest.
Representatives from medical, rural development, social welfare, education departments besides students and NGOs have been informed to attend the programme.
It further stated that on February21 and 22, Naga Women Hoho, Western Sumi Women Hoho, Chakhroma Women Hoho would be conducting IEC campaign at Niuland, Kuhuboto, Dhansiripar and Medziphema blocks.
Meanwhile, for February 23, a circular has been served to all the Churches in respective villages to devote 5-10 minutes and reach out the message of safe drinking water and sanitation on Sunday service.
The programme would culminate on February 25 with an essay competition for Class 8 to 10 students representing various schools around Dimapur on the topic “Water, sanitation and their impact on human health” slated at Little Star School at 1 p.m.
Mkg to observe drinking water & sanitation week
A series of programmes have been chalked out by PHED, Mokokchung division to be held during the observance of Drinking Water and Sanitation Awareness Week from February 20-25.
According to PHED Mokokchung Division executive engineer N. Yanger Pongen, the weeklong programme would be launched February 20 by organizing mass social work in all wards of Mokokchung in the morning and a function at Longkumer Kilem where DC Mokokchung Murohu Chotso would address the gathering as chief guest.
In Chuchuyimlang town, a Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan rally will be organized February 21 where students from class 5 and above, Ad hoc town committee members, Churches, Chuchu town students union and NGOs have been informed to participate in the rally.
On February 22, Water Quality cum distribution of field testing kits would be conducted at Mongkalemba town for Longchem and Mangkolemba blocks.
