
State home minister G Kaito Aye highlighted the importance of using government funds judiciously by the GBs and said that the developmental grants were provided to the villagers solely for the benefits of the villagers and not for village chiefs to be misused.
He said this while speaking at the 4th session of Satoi Area Gbs Union (STKK) hosted at Thsuruhumi Village, under Zunheboto District on February 15 as chief guest.
He stressed that the various developmental grants provided to the villages was solely for the benefit of its citizens and not for village chiefs to be misused. Kaito then added that the objective of communitisation was to create sense of ownership and to uproot poverty in all terms.
The home minister also underlined the mindset of the GBs who acts as absolute and unquestionable authority thereby depriving the welfare of common villagers.
Kaito sternly warned that the government would suspend all forms of grants and schemes against such villages that go against the government norms. He also lauded the gathering of GBs in educating and co-coordinating amongst themselves and assured himself to extend all possible help towards common needs of the area people as the son of the soil within capacity.
G. Kaito Aye pointed out that, though, traditionally Sumi village kingship was been practiced as hereditarily, the state government appoints GBs and empowered the village authority though communitisation to involve and engage itself for judicious implementation of various schemes and grants allocated for the villages.
Earlier, Er. H. Kahuto Sumi, S.E Police project, exhorted the GBs to govern their respective subject with diligent and emphasized strongly on the younger generation migrating to urban areas with or without jobs, which need to be thoroughly introspect by each GBs in their leadership.
He further stressed that the GBs should be proactive in peace building, maintain dignity of leadership by understanding the will of its citizens.
