SMLT celebrates silver anniversary in Chuchu

The Sangpangmen Mepu Lanur Telongjem (SMLT) of Chuchu town celebrated its silver anniversary, Wednesday, at the Nagaland Gandhi Ashram compound with parliamentary secretary of Veternary & Animal Husbandary, S Chuba Longkumer as the chief guest. The chief guest stated that it was very hard to have unity in a township, for it was inhabited by people from different walks of life and culture. However, he said that the formation and keeping active of SMLT to celebrate its silver anniversary was a unique achievement.
Parliamentary secretary stressed that peace and unity was a pre-requisite for a progressive society. To contribute in bringing about peace and unity in society, S. Chuba said every citizen must possess the qualities of steady temperament, forgiveness, respect for each other, appreciation and love. Being the future of the world, S. Chuba advised the youth to build leadership qualities with the principles of hard work, humility, serving with faith in God, to respect the elders and to adapt with the advancing world. “Do not let destructive elements pull you down”, he added. But most of all, “do not forget your rich traditions and culture”, said the chief guest.
Earlier, short speeches were also delivered by EAC Chuchuyimlang, Meyazungba, PA to DC (Rtd) Temsumeren, Sangpangmen Mepu president, N. Noken and former SMLT president Imtsunglir. A special song was presented by Sentikumla Jamir and the welcome address was delivered by SMLT treasurer S.Tama, while CTBA pastor Rev. Temjen said the invocation and benediction by Imotila. Vote of thanks was proposed by committee convenor Imliakum C.
