Black band arm protest

A host of Christian organizations and individuals including the Indian Christian Voice, Mahesh Bhatt, a noted film director and Tushar Gandhi, the great grandson of Mahatma Gandhi has appealed to all the Christian community in particular and all those horrified and outraged by the ongoing wide spread attacks against Christians in Orissa to wear a black arm band or a black ribbon as a mark of protest.
The organizations and individuals in a joint press statement said that the Christian community which has been taught to shun violence and embrace peace and love, even in the face of grave provocation, in keeping with the teachings of the Bible, has always been a soft target for “hate-propagating communal groups like the VHP and Bajrang Dal”.
“What a heart consumed by hatred can achieve has once again been seen in this carnage where not just homes, but fellow humans, were burnt alive” it lamented.
It accused that the state government in all these remained unable or unwilling to stem the flow of violence and book the culprits who were behind the conspiracy to whip up hapless Christians in the state.
