Educated Unemployed Union Nagaland (EUUN) while acknowledging the efforts of the public contractors, administration and government has asked the authorities responsible to take note of the problem and take necessary step to preserve, save and formulate “some rules and regulation” for developmental activities in and around Dimapur and Kohima, for better society.
EUUN worried by the collection of stones, boulders, sand and sand gravel from the “constructed bridges” site of Dhansari River, Dikhu (Chathe) river and Zubza River of Niuland sub-division, in a statement said collection of the mentioned elements within 1 km would weaken the foundation of the bridges and further suggested that immediate actions be formulated.
EUUN chairman, Wilson Kent and EUUN chairman of development cell, H.Y Sumi also pointed out that under constructed and half done RCC wall, initially proposed from Dobinala to Golaghat police gate was causing problems to the public living around the site, despite bills already been “collected in full.” In this connection the union has requested land owners not to disrupt the contractors but to donate 2 to 3 feet of land for drainage instead.
The union while urging the government to take necessary steps for river embankment at Dhansari river, Dimapur observed that “the work was carried out but not in full scale as it should be.” EUUN taking note of the land erosion in Kohima appealed government to construct RCC wall to every “nala” (sewer), so as to avoid further erosion.
It also appealed district administration of Dimapur and Kohima to check and keep vigilance on inflation and increasing price of essentials commodities in their respective towns.
