Kaito exhorts FONSESA

Calling upon all engineers to have sound professional ethics and technical competency, Minister for Roads and Bridges, G. Kaito Ayeh said on Monday that engineers have heavy responsibility towards development of the state. He urged the engineering fraternity to be the torch bearers of ushering in a positive attitude of professional ethics in all the professions.
Exhorting the engineering fraternity at the 6th General Session of the Federation of Nagaland State Engineering Services Association (FONSESA) at Indira Gandhi Stadium, G. Kaito Ayeh urged the engineers to recollect themselves and mend the loopholes in their association. He asked them to raise their voice together and come out with a clear picture to the government. He further urged them to show efficiency and transparency in their projects. “Strict adherence to the codal procedure would automatically result in transparent working”, he added.
Dwelling on the issue of posting, Ayeh appealed to the engineers to maintain discipline in their profession and attend to the people wherever posted.
Delivering his speech, guest of honour for the session, retired Chief Engineer (Power), Er. I. Lanu Toy urged the engineers to work in accordance with their official code of ethnics, in discipline and integrity. He said that such attitude could bring about moral and civic standards of the society, besides technology and economic development. Stating that their services were ultimately to the society, he asked the engineering fraternity to be true to their profession in implementing various responsibilities without compromise in quality and in their objectives.
Considering some present issues in the state such as the road condition, load shedding, roadside amenities, etc, Toy said that it was the duty of the engineers to initiate and respond constructively to the challenges. He further encouraged the gathering to rededicate themselves to the challenges of their profession with new determination and quality service.
Er. N. Chielie, Engineer in Chief, NPWD, and president of FONSESA, S.N. Meren Jamir, SE PWD (H) delivered speeches during the session. Er. F. Putsure, Additional CE (Mech) and vice president, FONSESA, chaired the programme. The session was attended by Er. Saku Aier, parliamentary secretary, Housing; Er. Vikho-o Yhoshü, advisor, ITTE, Commissioner Secretary, Housing, Mhathung Yanthan.
Formed in the year 1984, FONSESA is the apex body of all the constituent association of engineering departments including all engineers serving in different departments and organizations under the Government of Nagaland. The 6th Session of FONSESA coincided with the Engineer’s Day, which commemorates the birthday of engineer Sir M. Visvesvaraya country wide.
