Dimapur Government College (DGC) with their motto ‘try trust and triumph’ on Friday celebrated its 42nd fresher cum parting social meet at the college campus.
Addressing the occasion Dr. Lanutola, principal of DGC said that the college regards the fresher day as an important function and expressed her pleasure and happiness for the students who had brought laurels to the institution. While welcoming the fresher she urged them to be responsible and dedicated towards their work and loyal towards their studies. Also, insisted them to follow the rules and regulations of the college.
She also advised the final year students to be more dedicated towards their studies in order to pursue a bright career and to be an inspiration for the upcoming students.
Reminding the fresher on the adage, “when health and wealth lost something is lost but when character is lost everything lost”.
She concluded that character is the most important part of a student’s life and education helps to form a fruitful character and one should strive for it to make this world a better place to live in.
Highlights of the programme included invocation prayer by S. Yaden; welcome song by B.A second year; welcome address by Chenti Kath, GS of DGCSC; felicitation to meritorious students; introduction of fresher; traditional round by fresher; drama by BA third year; speech on behalf of fresher by Tovito Zhimomi, BA first year; mystery show by B.Com third year; special number by Tia and friends and speech on behalf of the outgoing by Chubakokla, B.A third year.
Special attraction of the session was declaration of Mr and Miss fresher and concluded with vote of thanks by Burnukshi, AGS of DGCSC.
The programme was attended by students, lecturers and other invitees.
