One NSCN (I-M) activist was shot dead by unidentified gunmen outside a Xerox shop opposite Chishi Complex, Circular Road, Friday around 3.30 pm. Police quoting eyewitnesses said the deceased, later identified as ‘Lt’ Starling (34), son of Honlei of Lamlai Khullen village, Ukhrul, was on his way to the bank when the gunmen fired three shots at him, killing him on the spot. Police later recovered three empty cases of 9mm and a Zen (NL-03-1447) belonging to the deceased. Meanwhile, GSO (Admin), NSCN (I-M), ‘Brig’ M. Joshua in a press release conveyed condolence at the death of Starling.
