Sensitization program -cum-formation of SHGs federation was held at the town hall, Jalukie on Tuesday. The occasion was graced by S. Chuba Longkumer, BDO for Tening as chief guest.
While speaking during the occasion, the chief guest opined that SHG was not to depend on others and for all round development, economy in particular. He said that all SHG should have clear objective for betterment with proper planning from the initial stage.
While stressing that self sufficiency and self reliance should be the primordial spirit of all SHGs, Chuba pointed out that they should take up certain but different schemes where every member can participate and produce something beneficial.
Strongly demoralizing collection or taxation among the SHG members through the practice of money lending, the BDO said that the same practice has created an ugly situation all over the state with 70 to 80 percent of the SHG facing the problem. In this regard, he urged all SHGs to wipe out the sick culture and advised to opt for dignity of labour, which he said, was the best policy for funding. He also expressed disappointment that there was competition in negative spirit among the SHGs.
While expounding on some duties and functions which the federation could take up, Chuba said “all SHG should trust one another, faithful to all, share with each other, work together, help the needy, earn collectively in a competitive manner, sincerity in working system, devotion to the group, learning from one another, etc.” He expressed hope that the formation of the SHG federation will definitely improve the socio-economic status of the area within a short span of time.
The program included introductory speech by Rev Fr Saji, Director for DAN, short speeches were delivered by Zeiba, BDO for Jalukie and chairman for Parish Development Team, and vote of thanks was proposed by Insile. The function was chaired Narola, secretary for United Federation.
