NPF regrets

In what appeared to be a damage control exercise, the NPF, through its working President Dr.Kanito Chishi , has withdrawn the controversial statement made by its Associate Press Secretary NPF, Shilumar Ao that appeared on October 25 in local dailies. It may be recalled that Shilumar Ao had termed the judgment of Gauhati High Court on the petition against imposition of President’s Rule in Nagaland as “arbitrary and with malafide intentions”.
The statement aroused condemnation and warning by the Congress to press for contempt of court. The High Court Bar Association had also expressed deep displeasure over Shilumar’s statement. Dr. Chishi, in an apology tendered to the Gauhati High Court and the Bar Association also said the NPF Party has the “highest respect and regard for the judiciary in the country”.
