Army donates computer centre

A newly constructed computer centre was inaugurated November 3 at Peren Government College (PGC) under the aegis of HQ 3 Corps and 69 Engineer Regiment by Col S C Rana, commandant 28 Assam Rifles in presence of 69 Engineers representatives and college authorities.
According to a defence release, the entire project was worth rupees 12 lakhs, which included newly constructed block, seven computers including furniture and peripherals, two printers, LAN facility and reference books for basic computer aptitude knowledge.
Addressing the function 2iC 28 AR, conveyed best wishes of GOC 3 Corps and IGAR (N) to all students and faculty members of PGC.
He also exhorted the students to draw maximum benefit out of the provided facility, and expressed hope that it would surely help them shape their careers towards a prosperous and better tomorrow.
School principal, Soalemba, vice principal and Ricky Langkam on behalf of all faculty members and students conveyed their gratitude to Army and Assam Rifles with special reference to 69 Engineer regiment for implementation of the project and making their dream come true, the release stated.
It further stated that over the years, in pursuance with its aim of spreading computer literacy in Nagaland, Assam Rifles and Army has established many such computer centres in the state and many more were in the pipeline.
“Efforts have been made to co-locate the Computer Centers along with educational institutions to enable the student community derive optimum benefit,” the release added.
