MHS celebrates silver jubilee

Marking its 25th year, Mount Hermon School, Kohima Friday celebrated its silver jubilee here at Kohima at its school premises. The celebration was graced by minister of urban development and higher education, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu as chief guest.
Lauding the school authority for enduring many hardships and completing 25 years Dr. Shürhozelie asserted that celebration of historic event of the school should be the beginning of a jubilant year with new initiatives and commitment to achieve greater heights. He added that celebration was a time to thank the pioneers of the school and acknowledge their achievements, and also plan for the years ahead, taking into account their successes and failures.
Mentioning that private education institutions had done commendable job in improving education in the state, Dr. Shürhozelie said that private schools in Nagaland had catered to the needs of the people and provided quality education. He stated that private schools had outdone the Government schools in imparting quality education. He further thanked the Catholic and Baptist Missions for their support in building education in the state.
The chief guest also urged the private schools to attempt for greater heights and not be complacent. He said that Nagaland still needs to catch up in the field of education with other states. To improve quality and standard of education in the state, he accentuated on the need to form teachers-parents association in schools.
Major highlights of the programme included release of souvenir magazine by Rev. Zhabu Terhüja, general secretary, NBCC; unveiling of foundation stone by Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu; unveiling of new school uniform; exhortations and songs.
