Christina Memorial School (CMS), Aoyimti observed its 11th Parent’s Day Saturday at a simple and impressive programme presented by students.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Geoffrey Yaden, Editor Nagaland Post, said the objective of good education was towards holistic development of the child and in this regard, parents play an integral role as teachers, guardians and mentors of the child.
He also said Parent’s Day was an occasion to remind society of expressing gratitude to parents.
Further, the chief guest encouraged parents to develop a good relationship with their children for development of their personality.
Referring to present society that is plagued with violence and unwanted happenings, he said homes of families which enjoy harmonious relationship are protected against invasion of violence and anti social behaviour.
He also said acts of words of gratitude to parents not only served as encouragement but also inspire parents. He also congratulated the students for exhibiting high potential in all disciplines and also for putting up what was described as “unique presentations”. The chief guest concluded that Christina Memorial School has the potential to become one of the best institutions in the coming days.
Earlier, the chief guest gave away the annual awards to the students who have excelled in academic and extra curricular activities during the year.
School Head master, S. K. Charkraborty, read out the academic and extra curricular achievements of the school.
Chief Patron of the school, IPS O. Alem in his concluding remark disclosed that government has recognized the basic requirements of the school and that the IT education system has also been given to the school. Lauding the children for their presentation, he said “the children has shown what the teacher and school has taught them”.
Some of the items that enthralled the parents included ; Taare Zameen Par, where is the twelfth man, the hunk and hear the fat lady sing. The morning session was followed by a grand fete.
The school established in the year 2003, in memory of late Christina. At present it has a total enrolment of around 500 students with 40 staff, both teaching and non-teaching.
