St. Mary, St. Thomas schools celebrate Parents’ Day

St. Mary’s School Padampukhuri, Dimapur celebrated its Parents’ Day celebration Saturday with Azheto Zhimomi MLA as chief guest.
“Catholic institutions have done marvelous work in many fields especially education, not only in Nagaland but the entire northeast and has produced a lot of leaders in the society”, said the chief guest, adding, “schools have catered not only quantity education but also qualitative education, which is a predominant factor in all catholic schools”.
Earlier the programme began with a welcome ceremony by children and Achumthung Patton teacher.
Sr. Laisa presented the welcome speech, followed by spectacular drill show performed by the girls of the school, dance on Vande Mataram, presentation of school report, followed by presentation of bouquets and shawl to the chief guest, guest of honour and the special invitees.
The programme also witnessed special cultural dance by Lotha, Sema and Ao community, special number by Inato and item numbers by the children in honour of their parents.
Meanwhile St.Thomas Montessori School Nagagaon Dimapur also celebrated its Parent’s Day celebration with S.I Jamir MLA, as the chief guest. In his address to the gathering, the chief guest stated “Montessori school, Dimapur is a new institution however it is steadily growing with a good number of students”.
“For healthy growth of an institution, two conditions are required, financial solvency and academic adequacy or soundness”, he added, and also gave few suggestions to the faculty members of the school asking them to lay stress on quality rather than on quantity.
On the role of teachers, he said “a teacher’s role should not be business oriented but a calling, a vocation, a mission”. The gathering also witnessed beautiful remix dance performance by the students, speeches and special item presented in honour of the parents.
