Intl Women’s Day
DIMAPUR: For the first time working committee on International Women’s Day (JVWO and WIDEN-Ne) would organize International Women’s Day and rally on March 8, 11: 30 a.m. at Jalukie town
The working committee in a release has invited all the community and church based organisations and public leaders under Peren District to attend the celebration. It has also requested all responsible organisations to bring along organisation banner including name of organisation and motto.
The program would be organized with cooperation and support of women organisation from within and outside the district and state. Meanwhile, it has informed to contact 9402009636 and 9436203863 for queries.
Land registration
DIMAPUR: Tenyiphe-I Village Council (VC) would be conducting land registration and renewal on March 3, from 8am to 4 pm at Council Hall. The Council informed that old registration certificates and sale deed would no longer be valid with effect from 2009 and that the new land registration and sale deed being carried out would be used for all official and matters relating to disputes and claims.
Village recognition
DIMAPUR: Chiangkao Nyaho village, under Aboi ADC headquarter, Mon, who had earlier applied for village recognition to the state government has notified claim and objection for village recognition could be raised within 30 days from the date of publication of the notice.
Kamson laid to rest
DIMAPUR: Funeral service of late deputy secretary ministry of Forest Environment and Mineral (FEM,GPRN) Kakhandai Kamei alias Kamson who passed away on February 27 after a prolong illness was held Saturday at Bade Village. A press release issued by MIP/GPRN stated Kamson hailed from Charungkhou (Chaiba) village, Churachanpur District, Manipur and was an active youth leader before joining the national service in April 18, 1994. During his short span of service he served in various capacities in different departments. The release further stated “Naga nation is grateful to late Kamson for having given his best to Nagalim and history will honor him”. Members from GPRN and National Socialist Women Organization of Nagalim (NSWON) were also presented to pay the last respect to the departed officer and expressed condolence to the bereaved family members.
DSSU meet
DIMAPR: Executive meeting of Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (DDSU) has been convened on March 2 at 10 am at the residence of its union banker, Notun Basti. All executive members have been requested to attend the meeting.
Dr. Nicky to inaugurate
DIMAPUR: The newly constructed building of Government. Primary and Middle School, PWD colony, Kohima would be inaugurated by Dr. Nicky Kire, MLA and chairman, NKVIB on March 5 at 10 am. Chairman, WEC GPS/GMS PWD, Kohima, Thapi Semy has requested all PWD panchayat members, elders, GBs and public of PWD colony, Kohima to attend the inauguration programme.
VCC prohibits sale of liquor
DIMAPUR: The Veterinary Colony Council (VCC), Dimapur, in the interest of public welfare and safety, has resolved to prohibit sale of liquor within the colony. A press release issued by the council chairman, also stated that any one indulging in anti social activities and disturbing tranquility of the colony would be liable to be punished as per its resolutions and further informed to contact mobile numbers-985682745, 9856617118, 9402020287 or 9436435186 for any complaints and grievances.
Urra unit Congress members resign
DIMAPUR: The Urra unit Congress party under 3 Dimapur-III A/C at its general meeting held on February 24 has unanimously resolved to resign from the party to support Azheto Zhimomi who has resigned from Nagaland legislative Assembly and Congress party to strengthen the NPF party under the leadership of chief minister, Neiphiu Rio and NPF president, Dr. Shurhozelie. This was stated in a press release issued jointly by president, Urra unit Congress, Kevingulie, and John Sangtam, vice-president.
DC Phek visits Basa vill
DIMAPUR: Deputy Commissioner of Phek district Z. Thele visited Phek Basa village on February 24 and verified various developmental activities implemented by government agencies like school building, agri link road and footsteps under NREGA scheme etc. He also had a meeting with village council chairman and village education committee chairman and workers, VDB secretary, women VDB, Church leaders and village leaders. In the meeting he lauded the education committee and village leaders for judicious utilization of funds through which four rooms extension could be completed with the amount for two rooms only. The meeting was chaired by Thitsopa VCC Phek Basa and prayer was pronounced by Zevesa, Associate pastor.
ANRRA meet held
DIMAPUR: A meeting of All Nagaland Rabbit Rearing Association (ANRRA) was held on February 17 at DUDA guest house, Kohima, which was attended by district selection members, beneficiaries and trainers. A press release issued by the association general secretary, stated that at the meeting, conducted in collaboration with veterinary and animal husbandary, various issues including objectives to promote rabbit rearing and assistance to lower section of the people under the scheme were discussed and further encouraged the low income employed, unemployed or daily wagers to undertake it so as to bridge the gap in economic disparity. The release further stated that new team of office bearers for state and district levels were also elected.
EUUN meet held
DIMAPUR: Educated Unemployed Union Nagaland (EUUN) held its executive meeting on February 25 at conference hall of Indian Red Cross Society building, Kohima. The union in the meet resolved to organize district wise tour and conference on the theme ‘Total Self-employment and Social Transformation’ through out the state from April. The house also resolved to open EUUN membership enrolment centre in Dimapur and to fight for justice in employment and self-employment of youth. EUUN in the meet also resolved to put forward suggestions, proposals and demands to the government in the interest of the younger generation and public.
ND & DGDU appeals CS
DIMAPUR: The Nagaland Directorate and District Government Driver’s Union (ND & DGDU) has appealed state chief secretary to approve the proposal for post of head driver or driver supervisor in every head of department in the interest of technical cadres and also the drivers. A press release jointly issued by the union chairman and general secretary stated the union is the only directorate level organization established for the welfare of drivers working under All Nagaland Government Drivers Association and has been affiliated with All India State Government Drivers Federation Control Committee, Delhi, since 2004.
Medical camp held at Kubza
DIMAPUR: A one-day Medical camp organized by the Joint Venture of Mobile-ICTC, Care and Support Society and Mobile Medical Unit (NRHM) under Chief Medical Officer Mokokchung for Blood Testing of HIV and AIDS, Malaria and counseling on HIV and AIDS was conducted at Kubza village on February 22. According to an official bulletin, medical Officer, Dr. Limayanger gave free medical check up and distributed free medicines to the villagers while managing director care and support society Mokokchung, Imchawati Kichu conducted an awareness talk on HIV and AIDS. Altogether around 100 villagers were benefited by the Camp.
STH appreciates ZTC
DIMAPUR: Sumi Totimi Hoho (STH) has appreciated the chairperson, deputy chairperson and members of Zunheboto Town Council (ZTC) for creating one way traffic at Project East, Zunheboto, under the leadership of parliamentary secretary Dr. K.C Nihoshe Yeptho. A press release issued by STH president, K. Atoli Sema, also appreciated public of the town for their cooperation and support in the creation of the traffic and further appealed for more cooperation from them.
GCAVU on current border situation
DIMAPUR: A joint meeting was held on February 27 at 7NAP.F/Coy office chamber on issues relating to current border situation and the misunderstanding that arose between 7 NAP F/Coy Sosorotchu post and governor camp area villages union (GCAVU) authority, with regard to the news caption 5 Jawans and one ASSI available at Sosorotchu post that appeared on February 18. Governor camp area villages union (GCAVU) chairman, R. Nchumbemo Humtsoe in a release stated that during the meet all differences were resolved amicably by both the parties, seriously viewing that in future no such incident would take place.
VCC Khuza lauds
DIMAPUR: Village Council Khuza has expressed gratitude to secretary land resource development Norman Putsure for leading the team of Nagaland Bamboo Development agency for visiting Khuza paddy field. The village council has expressed their confidence on the team on their assurance to construct agri-link road from Khuza junction to Tizu river.
LBCMB organizes health camp
DIMAPUR: Longpa Baptist Church Mission Board (LBCMB) organized a medical health camp at WBCA mission compound, Arunachal Pradesh from February 14 to 16 under the care and guidance of orthopedics, Dr. Mar Walling of Dr. Imkongliba Memorial Hospital Mokokchung. A release issued by LBCMB field director Niaunu Longding, it was the first time since 1999 after Ao Mungdang opened the Niaunu Longding Mission Centre, that such a medical campaign was organized.
LBCMB has also expressed gratitude to all the nurses and especially Dr. Mar Walling for their efforts and attending to 262 patients by distributing medicines worth Rs. 23,000.

NPCC reconstitutes PEC
DIMAPUR: Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) with the approval of All India Congress Committee (AICC), New Delhi, has reconstituted the Pradesh Election Committee (PEC) with members including NPCC president and MLA, K.V. Pusa as chairman; CLP leader and MLA, Chingwang Konyak; MLA I. Imkong; MLA K.L. Chishi; MLA S. I. Jamir; MLA Tokheho Yeptho; MLA H. Chuba Chang; former minister K. Therie; former speaker E.T. Ezung; former NPCC president Hokheto Sumi; former minister Nillo Rengma; former minister Nyemnyei Konyak as members and former MLA Medokul Sophie as member secretary with immediate effect.
According to a Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee press statement special invitees includes Mahila Congress vice president, Kakheli Jakhalu; NYC president, Kuputo Shohe; NSUI president, Hitilo Tep and Seva Dal chief organizer, G. K. Rengma.
NWU celebrates silver jubilee
DIMAPUR: Noksen Saoshoung Thangjam (Noksen Women Union) celebrated its silver jubilee on February 20 at Tuensang Town Baptist Church (TTBC), Tuensang on the theme “Liberty through Christ” with Chang Baptist Association (CBA) executive secretary, Rev. Dr.K.Chingmak and TTBC women leader, S.Achila as main speakers.
The speakers including former ES, Rev. L. Ben; TTBC pastor, H.Sangkap; former CBA women secretary, S.Anungla and Noksen Baptist Church pastor, Yanger also spoke on the occasion.
Highlights of the programme included release of silver jubilee souvenir and song presentation by Tuensang village women union, Sipongsang women union and Yangpi women union. The day long celebration was attended by all the members, NWU, Tuensang town president, Ayenla in a release stated.
Meanwhile, NWU Tuensang town has expressed gratitude to every individual and organizations for extending help morally and financially and making the celebration a grand success.
