A day after the state government failed to give satisfactory reply to the opposition on appointment of ad-hoc graduate teachers, Minister for School Education, Nyeiwang Konyak disclosed that altogether 87 teachers were accorded approval for appointment on ad-hoc basis under the Directorate of School Education during 2007-2008 (79 teachers) and 2008-2009 (8 teachers).
“There may be more appointments but records of the Department have been taken into custody of the SIT”. The appointments were made against vacancies caused by promotion, retirement, resignation, voluntary retirement and death he said. All the ad-hoc appointments were for a limited period or till regular appointment was made through NPSC or whichever was earlier.
He pointed out that the detected bogus appointments were currently under investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
