Five members of a family, including three minor children were reportedly injured when the Maruti Alto in which they were traveling was hit by a speeding mini-bus near Phesama check gate Tuesday.
According to sources, the mini-bus (NL-11-1422) belonging to the 12 IR Bn which was proceeding towards Kohima hit from the wrong side, the Maruti Alto (NL-01 C 8311) coming from the opposite direction at one of the turning just before reaching the Phesama check gate from Kohima side at around 9.30 am. All the five members of the family were injured.
The injured identified as Lhuosazou Savi (40) (father) hailing from Jakhama village, Hovinile (Wife) and their three minor children aged 12, 10 and 8 were rushed to Bethel Hospital. The injured father, who was driving the car when the accident took suffered head injury and is kept under observation in the intensive care unit of the hospital while the mother also suffered a broken arm. Two of the children were also said to be seriously injured while one of them escaped with minor injuries. Police when contacted said that the bus was totally on the wrong side and that the accident was suspected to have been caused by over speeding and lost of control.
