Two injured in road mishap

Dimapur: Two college students were injured in a road mishap when the scooter in which they were riding skidded near ARTC& S, Ara mile at around 7: 50 pm on Tuesday. Police quoting eyewitnesses said that accident took place when the scooter (DL-SQ 745) heading towards Chumukedima hit a pedestrian and skidded in the middle of the road. The two identified as Elvis Kuki and Imkong, the pillion rider both students of Eastern Christian College in their twenties were admitted to district hospital. The condition of Elvis was stated to be out of danger while Imkong is in unconscious state, police said. Meanwhile, along with the two an unidentified non local aged around 40 with head injury and fractured right leg in a critical condition was also admitted to district hospital, police said. Police are investigating whether the third person was involved in the mishap. (Staff Reporter)
Extortionist nabbed

DIMAPUR: Dimapur police on Tuesday evening at 3.30 pm arrested an ‘ss’ cadre of NSCN (K) from City Tower while he had come to collect money from a branch office of a tea estate located at Khatkati. The accused, Yevitho Yepthomi, revealed to the police that he was sent by ‘ss’ Capt Yevetho of NSCN (K) to collect the money. Addl SP V Z Angami also informed that several coupons belonging to the outfit was recovered from the accused. The accused has been booked under NSA and extortion, he added. (Staff Reporter)
Stolen goods recovered

DIMAPUR: In a delayed report, Medziphema police on Monday morning at 8.40 am, arrested a driver of a truck, NL08A0630, which was found carrying stolen materials of a BSNL tower of Pfutsero. According to Addl SP Dimapur, the police personnel on suspecting the truck inquired from the driver about the goods he was carrying to which he replied that it was only iron scraps which was later found to be the stolen goods. Meanwhile the Addl SP also requested the department concerned of the BSNL to collect the same from the Police station. (Staff Reporter)
CSU appeal to schools

DIMAPUR: Chumukedima Students’ Union (CSU) on receiving complaints from parents and Chumukedima Mothers’ Association (CMA) with regard to conducting morning assembly outdoors for long hours have appealed to schools to cut it short during summer season to avoid health impediments.
