Phek District Congress Committee (PDCC) has accused the DAN government for its step-motherly treatment meted to Phek district and also questioned the capability of elected members from the district.
Stating that distance from NH 150 to Phek town was just about 20 kms, PDCC said DAN government’s six years of power had miserably failed to develop the roads. A consultative meeting with the district senior leaders was held on July 14 at the residence of Z. Vadeo at Kohima where it deliberated on poor workmanship and ‘snail-paced progress of work’ in the ongoing road projects from Phek to Chozuba and Phek to Satakha under NLCPR. DCC cautioned the contractors that creating asset liability in these projects would not be tolerated.
DCC Phek also condemned the systematic victimization and elimination of Chakhesang officers and other employees especially in the department of education vis-à-vis the bogus teachers’ appointment. It questioned the veracity of the investigating agency and condemned its ‘biased approach’. “The rule of governance and the system of administration is very clear that department’s proposal is routed to the Govt. and finally it is the Minister in-charge who gives the approval”, stated the press release issued by President, DCC Phek Mikha Kenye.
DCC has demanded resignation of Minister for education, the incumbent Principal Secretary and Commissioner to the Government of Nagaland and Director of school education owning moral responsibility. The release also alleged of “systematic conspiracy targeted at the Chakhesang officers and employees” It stated that the five legislators of Phek district have “failed to protect interest of our officers and employees” and should feel ashamed and step-down owning moral responsibility. DCC Phek also expressed its strong resentment on reverting the DIS Phek and Chozuba to the post of headmasters.
Stating that it was a case of narrow political vendetta that had ‘greatly harmed the Chakhesangs as a whole’ DCC called upon people of Phek district to rise up above party politics and condemn such action.
